Drekkingarhylur

Iceland, October 2009. Crossing the Oxara river, Drekkingarhylur, the famed “drowning pool” that came into use in the 16th century. Men condemned to death were beheaded, but women who committed adultery, infanticide or perjury were tied up in a sack and flung into the pool-more deeper and more turbulent than it is today.

Wendy on the steps leading up to Oxararfoss waterfall. This the last picture I took as it was it was FREEZING, WINDY, and WET! Pictured in the car was a Jeffito popsicle after our hike.

Absolutely a beautiful place.

Driving Iceland

October, 2009. Iceland. I’m not sure if many people identify with getting as far away as possible. Driving in Iceland was awesome. Just 20 minutes out of the city we could drive/hike for 100’s of mile and not see another sole. Always surrounded by the mountains and the sea, the views were awesome!

Iceland Horse

Iceland Oct. 2009 (South West). I'd love to live where this horse lives. Check out his view. Wendita & I drove this coast for 100 miles, simply awesome. We might have ran across 5 cars the whole time, very peaceful/remote!

Meeting Of Two Continents

Iceland 2009. Wendita & I felt like we had Iceland to ourselves as we did not see a soul for most of the day. The landscape was more of a moonscape, but the best part was just being in the middle of nothing! These photos are where Asia meets North America, makes the Continental Divide look silly!
